I’ve been using the phone for a week now, and its generally been terrific. Apologies for conciseness but here are some notes. Looks great, opinion on the exterior screen varies from “ooh wow” to “mad sick”, it is very ergonomic and has very nice large functional buttons. The menu is logical and swift and flexible to your needs. One of the best cameras I’ve ever seen on phone pictures are sharp and the flash is blinding. The hardrive is very big, which is very useful and the ability to add with it using sd cards is a masterstroke.
The music player is just as fluid as any dedicated mp3 player. And now some niggles I had with it. My mates although the choice of black and white icons although to stylish in a sense, does seem it a bit misguided when colour is such a useful tool. A dedicated podcast section splitting them from songs could be useful, for people who buy it with the pretence of using it to replace a dedicated mp3 player. There is also sadly a little lag between the buttons and the music player, which although doesn’t ruin the phone, doesn’t help and can make it feel slightly tacky. I also found that although I was advised in the manual to use QuickTime and windows media player, the phone failed to play wmv’s while completely not finding .mov files which was strange. And also I know most people still don’t use the internet from their phone, but maybe with a faster, cheaper wifi connection more would. It would also syncing phone with computer much more easily and would allow the phone to remain its ace little cradle while it was working.
Hope these are the kind of things people want to know. I enjoy using the phone it’s a great tool, and its nice to have a piece of technology that for once has had just as much thought, as technology put into it.
