Sounds like you have been having exactly the same problems as me… i got my phone at the start of august, and had to have a replacement sim. However, the phone still does not hold its charge, randomly jumps to a number when using the scroll key, and wont text properly!

I am expecting a cocoon in the post today and I have been reading a fair bit about the battery life.

Im an electronic engineer and it seems like as with other mobiles with Lithium Ion batteries you need to do a continuous 24 hour charge to condition the battey properly before it’s first use. Also it will take several charges before the battery will reach full capacity. Discharging the battery fully can also do permanent damage as Lithium Ion is designed for contstant trickle charging. Also Lithium Ion will reach a fairly high percentage of charge quite quickly which may decieve some people into thinking the battery is ready for use but it taked many more hours for the last few percent to charge. (This is usually controlled by a charging circuit and/or temperature monitor that switches from fast charge to trickle charge when it reaches something like 86%).

I’m going to try an initial 24 hour charge with mine and I’ll report back how I get on.

If anybody has experienced short battery life could they report back and say wether they did an initial 24 hour charge to condition the battery when new before using the phone ?

After doing an initial 24 hour charge I’m now getting 4.5 days between charges with around 20 minutes a day calls and a bit of buetooth usage. The first time it lasted 3.5 then 4 then 4.5 so after the next charge I’ll consider the battery fuly conditioned and go to putting it in the cradle to charge at night and see how it goes then.

Most impressed with the build and audio quality of the phone etc and the only thing I’m not so keen on is the inability to set a recurring daily alarm on the phone itself but I suppose syncing with outlook would fix that.
The delay with the camera taking pictures can also be a bit annoying but I don’t use it that often.

As for Hannah’s original problem I’d imagine when putting the phone in the cradle it would detect the cradle and switch off any power saving as it’s expecting to be charging in that configuration.

I havn”t had any problems with text speed or the keypad but I don’t text that often.

My firmware version is 5.1 (*#300# and centre navi key).

As a stylish phone and MP3 player I’d highly recommend it to anybody and it gets plenty of ‘nice phone’ comments from people.

I have just got the cocoon and when i try to charge it in the nest it doesnt charge the battery just flashes red all the time it wiull charge if i plug the charger into the phone but not the nest

any help

also is the time supposed to stay on while its in the nest?
