When I was offered the chance to try this phone and review it, in all honesty, I wasn’t expecting much. I even explained my technophobe status to Mr O2 but was not put off and sent me one anyway.

I’ve been using the phone for a week now, and its generally been terrific. Apologies for conciseness but here are some notes. Looks great, opinion on the exterior screen varies from “ooh wow” to “mad sick”, it is very ergonomic and has very nice large functional buttons. The menu is logical and swift and flexible to your needs. One of the best cameras I’ve ever seen on phone pictures are sharp and the flash is blinding. The hardrive is very big, which is very useful and the ability to add with it using sd cards is a masterstroke. (more…)

Hi, as a member of the VCCP team who have sent out the new phone to influential bloggers, I was really excited to see the write up in Stuff magazine which has called Cocoon, the stormtrooper phone that’s the 4GB Walkman beater. What do you guys think?
Oh and apologies for the front cover, as Stuff put it Cocoon is ” As hot as… Princess Leia in a gold bikini”, their words not mine.

Candy bars and clam shells, that’s what we expect our mobile phones to look like. And sure occasionally there have been attempts to get us to buy into something new: phones that look like rocks, lipsticks, have more buttons or get rid of them altogether. But on the whole we like it simple.
